grand hotel struer has 70 rooms all of which with bath- cable tv and internet including 12 business rooms. Banqueting rooms and course facilities. Free parking at the hotel. Weekend stays with music and dancing- weekend stays with game buffet and desserts- mini holidays- golf stays and cycling and hiking holidays. 50 metres from the limfjord and the largest yachting harbour in the limfjord. Grand hotel struer is situated in the middle of struer which is a genuine limfjord town - and it is also a railway town. In the beginning a little harbour and a small trading centre were located here but when the railway from langaa via viborg and skive got its terminal station in struer in 1865 the development really started. As a matter of fact struer became the largest railway junction in denmark in the sense that there was no other town in denmark in which such a large part of the population earned their living from the railways. The danish state railways gathered a large part of its jutland administration in struer and the trains from randers- aarhus- vejle- esbjerg and the thy railway ended here. The huge roundhouses in struer could contain 31 large steam locomotives. In 1895 consul schou thought that the time was ripe for a proper hotel and it was he who built the hotel in oestergade. Originally it was named schous hotel but today the name is grand hotel struer and it has been carefully restored in a modern style. However the consuls name has in no way been forgotten because today schous brasserie and bar facing the pedestrian street and the harbour is in the very same premises as schous restaurant from 1895. With a view to the fact that all railways led to or from struer it is in no way strange that one of the first courses of the menu is called -danmark rundt- round about denmark. It consists of ham from skagen- sausage from fanoe- beer sticks from bornholm and lamb from venoe. The menu also comprises a delicious regional course.
