In july 1677 one of the greatest battles in danish naval history took place at the northern approach to koege bay. About 90 large and small ships participated in this sea battle and the danish fleet won over the swedish fleet. This was primarily due to the danish admiral niels juel and by winning this naval battle his name was enrolled in the annals of the danish fleet as one of its very great heroes - if not the greatest. Therefore it is quite natural that hotel niels juel in koege is named after the commander-in-chief of the danish fleet whose spectacular victory resounded all over europe. The hotel was built in the style of an old warehouse in 1989 and has been totally renovated in 2008. The location at the old charming harbour in koege is entirely in tune with history - and at the same time you only have 5 minutes on foot to the charming centre of koege with the famous square and the pedestrian streets. In kirkestraede you find the oldest dated house in denmark. During the summer you may listen to jazz music in several of the cosy backyards. The inviting restaurant of the hotel has a view over the old marina and among the main courses on the danish-french inspired menu card you find of course an admiral steak. The professional meeting facilities of the hotel are well suited for all kinds of meetings and conferences. All the meeting rooms have all sorts of modern equipment including wireless internet and seat up to 120 persons. The maritime theme characterizes the hotel and in particular the elegant furnishing of the rooms.
