Description

Simone and Sheryl have owned and operated Sand Castle on the Beach since January of 2002. Over the years we have refurbished the hotel, which had fallen into disrepair. Sand Castle on the Beach is a labor of love and a work in progress. In 2005, Sand Castle on the Beach was the first Hotel on St. Croix to install a 10 KW battery backup Solar Power System and we have an ever-expanding solar grid for both the hotel and Beach Side Cafe. We are proud to say that Sand Castle on the Beach was designed by the distinguished Wisconsin born architect, John Randall McDonald. He was a great admirer of Frank Lloyd Wrights Prairie School of Architecture. John Randall McDonald was considered an Organic Architect for his awareness of the elegance of the natural environment, thereby being more sensitive to nature. He was commissioned to design monasteries, hotels, private homes, schools and churches. We are fortunate that he had an office here on St. Croix for many years. He designed homes for Bjorn Borg, Mickey Mantle, Perry Como, Jimmy Connors and here on St. Croix, Maureen OHara. He died in 2003. Our friendly and courteous team make sure the hotel is as perfect as you want it to be. They are always willing to help and are always there for you with a friendly smile! We have some shy ones in the bunch who havent let us take a picture yet, but we are still a very small staff that keeps things nice and personable for you.

Alexander Hamilton Airport Directions from the Airport to Sand Castle on the Beach Important Note to Self - WE DRIVE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD. SO SHOULD YOU. From the St. Croix Airport exit, turn right to Frederiksted- this is Hwy 64. Go about 2 miles to JCT66 first light and turn left onto Hwy 66 west not marked. This road is also known as Melvin Evans Highway but not clearly marked as such. Go about 3.5 miles to JCT661 4th light/ blinking yellow light and turn right this is North 661. There is a sign indicating the right turn and says Frederiksted. Drive a little over a half a mile to Queen Mary Highway also known as Centerline Road. Stop at the stoplight if it is red, go straight through it if it is green. This intersection is known as Hannahs Rest Corner.Follow this road until it Ts off. Turn left you will notice the post office on the right. Travel straight down the hill towards the beautiful Caribbean Sea and turn left onto the road closest to the ocean.
